Role Summary
Reporting to the Catering & Convention Manager, the Banquet Server is responsible for providing superior customer service and upholding Coast Hotel’s quality standards in the hotels food and beverage department.
Key Accountabilities
1. Acts as an Ambassador for Coast including greeting guests, making them feel welcome, and handling basic enquiries
2. Services hotel catering events and provides customer service through the completion of routine duties and tasks, and by following the close instructions of the Banquet Event Order
3. Responsible for the set-up of function rooms as laid out in the detailed Banquet Event Order
4. Responsible for the tear down and clean-up of all function rooms
5. Services the hotel breakfast bar including, set up, maintaining, breakdown and clean up when required
6. Adheres to quality and industry standards when completing tasks
7. Stocks supplies and maintains inventory levels to support the operation throughout the day
8. Prepares, stocks, and sets up/puts out food and beverages
9. Maintains function and meeting rooms, breakfast area, common areas by vacuuming, removing trash, clearing, cleaning and sanitizing table, kitchen surfaces, storage areas, equipment, staff room
10. Checks on guest satisfaction and follows up on requests where possible and appropriate
11. Demonstrates a customer service attitude with internal and external contacts
12. Ensures the safety and security of the property, the Ambassadors and guests when completing tasks
13. Other duties as required
Education and Experience
Serving it Right certificate is required
Hepatitis A vaccination is mandatory
Previous banquet experience is an asset
Skills and Abilities
Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position, including lifting up to 50lbs (need to be able to move chairs and tables)
Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings and holidays
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Professional appearance and attitude
Ability to work as part of a team and independently
