Reporting to the Associate Director, Enterprise Application Support, the Application Services Manager is a people leadership and senior technical role responsible for the end to end performance of IT Services. The Application Services Manager is accountable to the business user groups for the performance of IT applications and services; and, ensures the right work is getting completed in an efficient manner. This scope includes asset lifecycle management, vendor management, incident and request management, application maintenance and development project work. This position provides technical expertise, coaching and leadership for a team comprised of Analysts - Business Systems, Billing Analyst and EAS Technicians. Specific Accountabilities
Facilitate and collaborate with various Business Groups and establish the prioritization and delegation of work.
Translate corporate and unit objectives down to concrete work deliverables.
Ensure work assignments and operational routines are completed and meet the customer expectations.
Manage the end to end availability and performance of the service and prioritize service improvement initiatives.
Responsible for Incident Management as needed during application outages or cross-application incidents.
Contribute both expertise and resources to project implementation.
Provide technical expertise, coaching and leadership to staff and project teams as needed.
Responsible for helping to meet expense budget targets.
Lead a team of direct reports; performing full leadership duties including performance monitoring and feedback, recruitment, coaching, corrective action, performance improvement plans and attendance management.
Other duties as required in operations, support and application change initiatives.
Knowledge and Skills Required
Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience, or a Diploma in Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in application support and development, preferably focusing on one or more enterprise applications supporting Northwestel or other IT or telecom sector organizations.
Leadership experience in either a direct or indirect capacity is required.
Strong project and time management, analytical, communication and organizational skills.
Demonstrate a level of expertise in at least one of the following technical areas:
Some Knowledge in relational databases: Oracle, MSSQL.
