The Accommodation Officer manages accommodation support for students with permanent and/or temporary disabilities. This includes advising and being a point of contact for Faculty and staff regarding accommodation needs and provisions in compliance with human rights legislation, LAFOIPOP, and current case law.
In addition, this office liaises with outside support agencies to provide students with opportunities not currently available on campus (i.e. government funding for disability-related educational supports etc). The Accommodations Officer performs typical actions such as assessing each student’s barriers and providing professional recommendations for assistive technology that would best assist the individual.
What You’ll Do:
Play a key role in maintaining collaborative relationships between Student Accessibility, Students, Faculties, and Instructors.
Collaborative needs assessment of students with disabilities through consideration and interpretation of third-party documentation and through interviews with students and other involved individuals, as required.
Guide and support to students with disabilities from pre-entry through graduation.
Recommend academic and physical accommodations to be provided by the University to ensure that the health, safety, and learning environment of the students are appropriate in light of the identified disability(ies).
Communicate with instructors to ensure understanding of specific accommodation implementation.
Maintain and update confidential student records routinely and systematically.

Position Requirements
What You’ll Bring to this Position:
Undergraduate degree in an applicable discipline
Minimum of 2 years experience working in a university setting and/or providing support services to people with disabilities.
Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:
Significant experience working directly with counselling.
Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Code and LAFOIPOP considered an asset.
Experience working with persons with physical, psychiatric, and/or learning disabilities.
Knowledge of legislation, Duty to Accommodate, and human rights law as it applies to education.
Experience working with various technology
Knowledge of Community supports
In depth understanding of the University of Regina’s policies and procedures.
Awareness of methods for supporting vulnerable groups in a student service environment.
Experience working with students with diverse needs and knowledge of appropriate campus.
Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 4 Salary Range $64,796 - $87,436 Annually. Status Term Work Hours
Monday to Friday 8:15am – 4:30pm, with flexibility to include limited evening and weekend commitments.
