Job Overview:
We are seeking a Project Manager with expertise in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical (M&E) engineering to act as the client’s representative on a greenfield food processing and cold storage facility project in Bahrain. This individual will manage the project end-to-end, ensuring it meets design, regulatory, and food safety standards and is delivered within the timeline and budget.
Key Responsibilities: Client Representation and Project Management
Serve as the primary client representative, ensuring project goals, standards, and specifications are met throughout all project phases, from concept through completion.
Manage and oversee all project aspects, with a focus on M&E components due to high electrical demands.
Project Scope Development and Conceptual Design
Lead the front-end engineering design (FEED) and conceptual layout, coordinating with stakeholders to establish project requirements.
Oversee the creation of the project’s basis of design (BOD) and point of qualification (POQ), guiding the team from concept through detailed engineering.
Regulatory Coordination and Approvals
Coordinate closely with government authorities to secure necessary project approvals and meet regulatory requirements.
Work with the client and relevant contractors/sub contractors to ensure building specifications meet local construction and food safety standards.
Tendering and Contractor Engagement
Following regulatory approval, manage the tendering process by coordinating with contractors and suppliers, ensuring alignment with project scope, budget, and quality standards.
Negotiate contracts, evaluate bids, and finalize contracts to facilitate project execution.
Construction Monitoring and Quality Control
Monitor construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and timelines.
Implement quality control standards in line with food safety and industry standards, coordinating closely with consultants on specification compliance.
Technical Solutions and M&E Focus
Ensure that the project’s mechanical and electrical specifications are suited to high energy and equipment load requirements.
Research and integrate innovative technical solutions for efficient facility performance and sustainability.
Final Handover and Commissioning
Oversee the commissioning process, facilitating a seamless handover of the facility upon completion to the project owner.
Ensure all aspects are operationally ready, meeting client specifications and regulatory standards.
Requirements: Educational Background
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering. An MBA or advanced degree is advantageous.
PMP certification or equivalent project management qualification is preferred.
Experience
At least 5 - 10 years of experience in managing large-scale construction projects, ideally within the food and beverage or industrial manufacturing sectors.
Proven experience in M&E-heavy projects with substantial electrical consumption requirements.
Technical and Professional Skills
Strong experience with regulatory approvals and government coordination for large projects.
Knowledge of industry standards in food safety and building specifications.
Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to represent client interests and ensure regulatory compliance.
