This internship is aiming for the implementation of an automated battery characterization setup and the analysis of the measured battery data. Battery packs, consisting of up to hundreds of individual battery cells, are used to power electric vehicles. Each battery cell has to be monitored continuously by a battery management system in order to ensure safe and efficient vehicle operation. The foundation for each battery management system is a comprehensive dataset that links the measured battery data to the actual state of the battery. In order to be able to create this dataset, an automated battery characterization setup should be implemented and the measured battery data analyzed. Results will help in the design of future battery management systems.

- Improve your skills in instrumentation automation and measurement data analysis
- Document your results by writing and present your findings

You successfully meet the requirements, if you are a motivated and committed student from the field of Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information and Computer Engineering or similar. You are best equipped for this task if you additionally have knowledge and interest in:
- Electrical measurements of batteries
- Instrumentation automation with MATLAB/Python/proprietary software
- Data processing and signal processing in MATLAB/Python
- Basic electronic circuits and PCB debugging
This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry (full-time), employment group B for bachelor students, employment group D for master students (https://www.feei.at/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/minimum-salaries-white-collar-workers-2024.pdf).
