About the role The purpose of this role is to provide a high level of technical expertise and strategic insight to assist in the development of appropriate strategies to enable the department to meet business objectives and to provide purposeful leadership and direction to create a high performing team environment, providing oversight and management of operational/strategic activities in line with divisional objectives. The Technical Specialist also provides a high level of technical support to ensure consistency of approach to factors which impact claims cost and to assist in the development of technical staff, you will demonstrate the ability to manage positive relationships to co-ordinate activities; meet and maintain required standards and demonstrate continuous improvement in the execution of all business processes and initiatives You must provide outstanding leadership through role modelling, consistent coaching at all levels to strengthen skills and productivity; and drive activities that build team engagement and improves the customer experience. What you'll do
Provide technical expertise and support to the Executive Manager, Claims Performance & Delivery to assist with strategic claims management decision making across all products.
Lead by example, demonstrating dedication, patience, and a commitment to continuous improvement
Provide technical expertise and/or mentoring to support the development of technical staff to ensure appropriate performance standards are achieved.
Design and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of all claims staff.
Provide consistent and high-quality advice and sign off support to technical staff to ensure consistency of approach to factors which impact claims cost.
Provide regular analysis of audit results (internal & external) and implement and develop frameworks to improve performance.
Provide regular analysis of claims trends and provide recommendations to improve performance.
Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to address them.
Ensure departmental procedures and training are in-line with business objectives and legislative and procedural requirements, and are updated/amended as required, to ensure they always remain current.
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
What you'll bring
Extensive experience in a senior role dealing with complex Workers Insurance claims, where a high degree of technical knowledge of personal injury claims, including all relevant legislation was required.
Leadership experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with stakeholders
