About the opportunity:
Northcott is currently looking for Support Worker’s who are committed, caring and professional individuals to join our newly built beautifully designed Specialist Disability Accommodation house located in Taree, with practical features to help people with specialist accommodation needs to live the life they choose. The role will commence on a casual basis with a view to move into a permanent role.
These are rewarding and challenging roles that require the successful candidates to support customers with complex health and physical needs and shifts which include Active Overnights. Previous experience will be an advantage.
Typical duties might include:
- Supporting customers to develop and maintain independence.
- Supporting customers with personal care including bowel care, manual handling using a variety of equipment and aids such as hydraulic and electric floor lifts, sit-to-stand lifts, and ceiling hoist lifts.
- Undertaking various household tasks including, cleaning, shopping, and other community access activities
- Epilepsy and Seizure Management
- Personal Care Routines – including Bathing and Continence Aid Changes
- Mealtime management (following a supplied detailed diet plan)
- Medication Administration
- Supporting nonverbal customers.
- Wound Care
Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs of our unique customers
- Demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships with our customers and to support their individual care plans, including goals
- Flexibility to work on a 24/7 rotating roster; you will be required to work across morning, afternoon and active night shifts, including weekend and public holiday shifts
- Experience supporting customers with intellectual disability, high physical support needs and medical / health needs
- A current Australian Driver's Licence and confidence to drive an accessible van
- NSW Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain
- NDIS Worker Check or willingness to obtain
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with various ages, cultures and ability levels
