Salary: From $72,265 per annum pro rata + 11.5% superannuation
Are you currently undertaking your 4th/5th year studies in a Bachelor of Urban Planning qualification and interested in gaining paid work experience to complement your area of study? If yes, then Randwick City Council is currently offering a Student Strategic Urban Planner position.
This position is full-time, and the successful candidate will need to commit to working a 35-hour week for the full 12-month internship commencing January 2025.
Located in the vibrant eastern suburbs with plenty of interesting urban planning projects, this opportunity will offer the successful candidate a great start to their career through direct involvement in a variety of responsibilities and duties undertaken by Council’s Strategic Urban Planning team.

To be considered for this position you must meet the following criteria:
- Be studying to obtain, or have recently completed a tertiary qualification at degree level in Urban Planning
- Have a basic understanding of the functions and aims of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979
- Familiarity with the role of urban planning within local government
- Basic research and critical analysis skills preferably in land use
- Ability to manage multitask workloads, deadlines and projects
- Ability to communicate effectively with people
- Demonstrated report writing skills
- Commitment to customer service
- Demonstrated commitment to EEO, WHS and the principles for a culturally diverse society
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and data analysis is highly desirable, while knowledge of 3D modelling software and Adobe Creative Cloud or similar is desirable.
