Job Description
What you’ll do:
- Transportation of cattle as directed both on and off the station
- Handle cattle in line with AACo animal welfare standards.
- Be responsible for loading cattle at appropriate numbers.
- Adhere to current fatigue management guidelines.
- Complete all paperwork as required e.g. Livestock cartage book etc.
- Conduct general property observations while driving
- Carry out road train maintenance - Carry out a pre start check daily or before each trip taken.
- Maintain road train serviceability and ensure the vehicle is of roadworthy condition.
- Monitor fuel and oil usage and record fuel in fuel log sheets
- Monitor spare part usage
- Follow the general guidelines listed below when operating road train
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience and skills you’ll have:
- This job can be physically strenuous (demanding) from time to time. You will be expected to be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, lift, grip, grasp, push and pull various tools and equipment. You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull from 10–20 kilo’s and occasionally more.
- This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including hats, gloves, safety glasses, covered shoes, and respiratory protection and ear protection as appropriate.
- This job requires the ability to comprehend written and oral operational and safety instructions and related rules, policies and memos, and to communicate clearly with your co-workers and supervisors.
- Current MC drivers license
- Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous
- Ability to work both alone and as part of a team
