What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of National Operations State Service Centre (NOSSC) Western – Team Member. This diverse role will support the NOSSC for Western Command.

NOSSC Western Command is the ‘front door’ to the AFP in Perth, WA. The team support the AFP with triaging reports of crime and requests for support to Australian Government Agencies. NOSSC Western Command provides a link to the AFP for state and foreign law enforcement agencies. It coordinates investigation resourcing and response through the Capability and Capacity Committee and provides operational support to investigations. The team also manages the property and exhibit registry for the Command.

This position works under a support working pattern as defined in the Australian Federal Police Enterprise Agreement 2017-2020. This position presents an ideal opportunity for motivated applicants seeking to contribute and provide support to operational outcomes within Western Command. We are looking for proactive, flexible and inquisitive natured individuals with a high level of attention to detail, computer literacy (Microsoft office suite), ability to adapt to change, able to prioritise competing tasks, great communication skills and time management.

What will you do?

Band 3 & Band 4 applicants will be expected to:
Liaise with State & Commonwealth partners agencies, and handle enquiries from members of the public.
Provide secretariat support to the Western Command Capacity and Capability Committee (CCC).
Maintain a secure evidence storage facility, manage property and exhibits in accordance with AFP and legislative requirements, and provide advice relating to lodgement, handling and disposal of property and exhibits, as required.
Undertake a support role to a major incident to achieve a positive operational outcome in line with Incident Command & Control System (ICCS) Plus doctrine.
Undertake a range of support tasks as directed by the Team Leader NOSSC Western Command.

Band 4 applicants only:
Triage information received from various methods and platforms and prepare a briefing paper for the CCC to consider for investigation.
Plan and coordinate the disposal of property and exhibits, including drug destructions.
Develop team members and fulfil a guiding, mentoring and advisory role.
Essential Requirements
You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
Hold a Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Have contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
Strong aptitude for problem solving and analytical processing.
Demonstrated ability to proactively contribute within a team.
Excellent communication skills, including high-level writing, editing and presentation skills, and effective cross-cultural communication.
Ability to prioritise tasks, work under pressure and meet short deadlines.
Show initiative and work independently and within a small team.
Excellent stakeholder relationship skills.
Desirable Requirements

Additional Information
