Mechanical Fitter/Plant Fitter

Glencore’s Mc Arthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process zinc, lead and silver from our open cut mine. It is then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and shipped to our customers worldwide. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.

About the role:
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and Assistant Maintenance Supervisor you will perform preventative maintenance of plant and equipment in accordance with OEM recommendations and manuals with a focus on maintaining safety. As a Maintenance Plant Fitter, you will work to achieve assigned KPI’s to support the Mc Arthur River Mine Metallurgy Strategy.

Accountabilities:

Maintaining all areas of fixed plant mechanical equipment to the highest standard to ensure plant availability.
Execute daily preventative maintenance tasks as per planned Maintenance Schedule for each week.
Plan to achieve 85% planned work each week from the maintenance schedule.
Carry out maintenance activities as per instructions from Maintenance Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor on a daily basis.
Ensure Apprentices/Trainees are trained and supported with their career development with on job training.
Take personal responsibility for accurate completion of work to achieve maintenance budget plan.
Support and encourage the Safe Work system with all maintenance personnel.
Embed and drive an aligned culture that creates success.
Aim for Zero harm/incidents.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping both in the workshop and on the job.

Successful applicant will have:

Trade qualified (e.g. CERT III in Mechanical Fitting and Machining).
Crane ticket for non-slew crane (Desired).
Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets
High Risk – EWP, forklift, Dogman tickets

At MRM, we support the Northern Territory first, and Territorian applicants or those prepared to relocate.
