About the Opportunity
The Mental Health Hub Intake Worker is responsible for providing thorough intake assessments to individuals and their families or carers to determine their suitability for the Mental Health Hub services. The position independently manages, responds to, and triages incoming referrals from multiple streams, including self-referrals via phone and online forms, as well as service provider referrals.
As one of the first points of contact for people at the Mental Health Hub, the Mental Health Hub Intake Worker will be skilled in assessing a person’s needs and be required to conduct complex risk assessments and can action a plan to mitigate any identified risk. Working closely and collaboratively with other members of the Mental Health Hub team, Mental Health Hub Intake Workers ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with the operational and business model of the service and directions provided by the Clinical and Operations Manager or delegate.
The Mental Health Hub Intake Worker role also involves building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external service providers, including General Practitioners, medical professionals, Government Departments, Non-Government Organisation’s, and schools. The position also responds to general enquiries for support, assisting community members in appropriately referring to the Mental Health Hub or alternative care pathways, and provides general administrative support to the broader Queanbeyan service delivery teams.

Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Undertaking study or completion of tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or other allied health discipline recognised by the tertiary mental health services sector.
- Demonstrate skills and experience in the provision of mental health assessment and triage including care coordination, brief mental health assessments, risk assessments and crisis intervention/safety planning and brief interactions with young people.
- Able to demonstrate some knowledge of recovery focused and family inclusive practice.
- Demonstrated basic understanding and/or knowledge of the concept and impact of mental health issues in the community.
- Have a high degree of computer literacy, including demonstrated experience with report writing and electronic client information management systems.
