Role Description Merillot is currently preparing a response to the Industry Growth Program Advisers RFT 2024 issued by the Department of Industry, Science, and Resources. As part of this process, we are exploring opportunities to engage additional highly skilled advisors who are interested in collaborating on this project. We are open to flexible arrangements and are willing to discuss both contractor and potential employee roles. Merillot will submit the RFT and administer the contract, allowing you to focus on delivering high-impact advisory services as part of the Industry Growth Program. The role involves providing strategic advisory services, including commercialisation and business growth advice to innovative Australian startups and SMEs. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a nationally significant program that aims to support the next generation of high-growth businesses. Key Responsibilities
Deliver expert commercialisation and business advice, including the development of strategic plans, reports, and feedback as part of the Industry Growth Program.
Engage with advisory committees or panels to provide insights on applications for assistance or grants under the program.
Support Recipients through their commercialisation and scaling-up processes, making referrals to Industry Partner Organisations for additional sector-specific support where appropriate.
Monitor the progress of Recipients, providing ongoing feedback and reporting to the Department.
Advocate for the Industry Growth Program through networking, collaboration, and promotional activities.
Contribute to uplifting the commercialisation and innovation capabilities of the Australian Public Service.
Qualifications
Proven experience in strategic planning, commercialisation, and business advisory, especially within the startup or SME sector.
Deep understanding of the Australian innovation ecosystem, including market trends, key challenges, and capital raising strategies.
International experience in areas such as capital raising, sales/marketing channel distribution, joint ventures, or establishing multinational operations is highly regarded.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex business concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated capability in stakeholder engagement and managing complex relationships effectively.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and adhere to timelines.
Familiarity with government programs and compliance with relevant guidelines and legislative requirements.
High-level proficiency in written and spoken English.
