About the Role
The Family Service Practitioner supports vulnerable children, young people, their families and carers. They work across a range of programs and provide families/carers with support within a managed case plan. Practitioners are focused on working with parents, children, young people and carers to promote the best interests of the child/children to ensure their safety and development. This vacancy will be focused in our Foster and Kinship team and can be based from Ulverstone covering the North West region. It requires comprehensive parenting assessment and case management capability together with strong interpersonal skills and relevant experience.

Demonstrated comprehensive family and carer assessment skills, including case management and active assertive outreach and engagement
Demonstrated evidence informed knowledge and understanding of child development, trauma, and risk assessment and management
Demonstrated evidence informed knowledge and application of therapeutic models and theories to develop skill-based interventions that enable positive change
A demonstrated understanding of the complexity of the child safety services, out of home care, and family support systems and the issues involved in providing services to statutory clients
Demonstrated experience in engaging and working therapeutically with culturally and linguistically diverse families and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
About You:
Can work autonomously as part of a statewide team, with oversight from the Team Leader and Carer Support Manager
Uses guidelines, procedure manuals, practice frameworks and policies to exercise professional judgement when working under limited direction
Undertakes work with integrity and honesty, adhering to confidentiality requirements and demonstrating a commitment to working effectively with clients and professional stakeholders
Is committed to work health and safety and achieving a zero harm workplace
Has a demonstrated understanding of the complexity of the child protection, flexible funding interventions, out of home care and the family support systems and the issues involved in providing services to statutory clients
Essential:
Current motor vehicle license
Ability and willingness to travel
Current satisfactory national police check or willingness to obtain
Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
Current First Aid Certificate of willingness to obtain (HLTAID003 Provide First Aid)
Competency in using the range of Microsoft Office computer software Comprehensive private vehicle insurance and registration in the event private vehicles are required for work purposes
A Bachelor of Social Work or a Diploma of Community Welfare Work or other tertiary qualifications at Diploma or above level which includes units of case management / casework practice and supervised practical work placements in relevant fields.
