The City of Burnside is one of Adelaide's most attractive and historic residential areas. It is well known for its tree-lined streets, period architecture, plentiful reserves and gardens within a 30 km² area. Located just 10-minutes from the Central Business District, the City extends into the Hills Face, providing a unique environment that transitions from an urban to the more natural landscape of the Adelaide Hills and adjoining conservation areas. Burnside has over 100 parks and reserves, many with Biodiversity Sites, including large reserves in the Hills Face managed for biodiversity, fuel control and community enjoyment.
Burnside covers 28 suburbs and has a residential population of over 45,000. We are focused on making a real difference in our community and achieving our vision to deliver places and services valued by our community. We are seeking an experienced Coordinator Conservation Programs who is passionate about the natural environment and the community to join the City Environment & Infrastructure team.
This role is responsible for the management of Council’s nature conservation programs, particularly the Hills Face reserves and Biodiversity Nursery. Leading a small team and an enthusiastic group of volunteers, you will plan and deliver projects including managing contractors, liaising with stakeholders and community engagement. You will provide technical advice to various stakeholders as well as deliver public information and education programs to promote conservation on public and private land in Burnside.
Qualifications in Conservation or an associated discipline are required with extensive practical experience in land management activities, including project management and/or contractor supervision. Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build rapport across the organisation and within community is essential. You will have sound computer and report writing skills, a strong customer service focus and hold a current SA Driver’s Licence.
This position is offered as a permanent, full-time basis classified at Level 7 under the City of Burnside Administration Employees Enterprise Agreement 2023. You will be required to undertake a National Police Check as part of the on-boarding process. You must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this position.
