The Role
The Collection Services Officer is involved in the conservation, preservation, storage, movement, packing, display and documentation of the National Collection. The role will involve: assisting with conservation programs across all conservation labs, carrying out preservation and preventive conservation activities including gallery maintenance and any other priority task identified across the section.
Core Responsibilities

Under general direction undertake a range of collection management tasks across the conservation teams including:
- Carry out the survey, documentation and basic conservation treatment of collection objects;
- Carry out display preparation of conserved items for exhibitions and loans. This can include framing, making supports, and mounting;
- Conservation standard packing, rehousing and storage of collection items;
- Assisting preventive conservation programs including freezer and anoxic programs, integrated pest management and environmental monitoring;
- Document collection management activities on the Memorial’s collection management system;
- Administrative tasks relating to the preservation, storage and movement of objects.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in relation to preservation activities
- Ensure that Work Health and Safety guidelines and practices have been implemented and are observed in collection work
