About the OPPORTUNITY: We are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity as a Test and Commissioning (T&C) Auxiliaries Technician, where you'll play a key role in one of Australia's premier defence projects — the Hunter Class Frigate Program. Reporting to the T&C Auxiliaries Lead, you will be responsible for conducting Set to Work activities for the frigates' auxiliary equipment and systems. This includes testing, commissioning, maintaining, and operating these systems in line with engineering, verification, and program requirements. While this role is based at our Osborne Shipyard office, BAE Systems Australia embraces flexible work arrangements. Key RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct Set to Work activities for the Frigate's auxiliary equipment and systems.
Support and design specialised tools and test equipment.
Assist in testing and evaluating design specifications.
Perform scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance, both in-store and ship-fitted, to ensure equipment operates efficiently and avoids unscheduled downtime.
Diagnose faults and solve technical issues.
Work with contracted suppliers and assist with pre-commissioning activities.
Develop and review key documentation, including specifications, test procedures, maintenance instructions, and engineering reports.
About YOU:
Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering trade or dual trade with Mechanical Competencies
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a Mechanical Engineering trade particularly in maintenance or Set to Work installation and commissioning environments.
Knowledge or experience in operating or maintaining auxiliary equipment such as Reverse Osmosis systems, Sewage Treatment Plants, and Sea Water Cooling systems.
Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
Experience with the installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and maintenance of rotating equipment.
Familiarity with creating and executing Computer-Based Commissioning Documentation, Risk Assessments and Work Instructions.
Experience or exposure in operating fluid systems.
Proficiency in troubleshooting equipment and assemblies.
Demonstrated professional integrity, advanced technical knowledge, objectivity, responsibility, and the ability to work independently.
