The Role
As a Health Systems Governance Officer you will be required to oversee processes, governance activities and policy development in support of Australian Defence Force (ADF) operations.

Health systems governance means ensuring strategic health policy frameworks are implemented with effective oversight, provision of appropriate supporting guidance and attention to operational requirements, and accountability.

They will be accountable under broad direction to achieve health governance outcomes, ensuring activities comply with operational planning frameworks and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. Effective health systems governance is essential in supporting ADF members deployed on operations. This requires mechanisms for monitoring, evaluating and reviewing the healthcare systems and resources required to support ADF operations.

The Health Governance Officer should have a good understanding and experience in the application and implementation of health safety programs, risk identification and communication, improvement methodologies, system thinking and remediation with the ability to monitor, implement and evaluate the impacts.

Demonstrated high level of skill in the analysis of complex issues, measuring outcomes against measures of effectiveness and implementing comprehensive change programs and improvement strategies. Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate, consult and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

About our Team
The Directorate of Joint Operation 7 (J07) consists of a small group of mostly health professionals who are instrumental in providing health support, operational planning and technical health-related advice to ADF members on operations.

This position requires experience in administration, governance, and stakeholder engagement.

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High-level governance skills such as monitoring and reporting, documentation reviews and quality assurance checks.
  • Experience with administrative tasks and maintaining databases and records in accordance with information management policies.
  • Experience interpreting and complying with relevant governance requirements including relevant health policy, established principles, work practices and procedures necessary to achieve work outcomes.
  • Ability to work in a team based environment, including ability to collaborate with a range of professionals, and actively support the work area and team objective.
  • Capacity to work in a busy environment, successfully handling competing priorities and ability to effectively manage and prioritise workload distributed amongst a team to deliver agreed outcomes.
