The Role
The Directorate of Navy Governance has an APS 5 Knowledge Management Officer position, which is required for the ongoing improvement, update and sustainment of the Navy Lessons Program. The Navy Lessons Program enables Navy to collectively learn from experience, promote continuous improvement and support innovation. By implementing an organisation learning culture through this program, Navy learns from both its mistakes and successes. You will be instrumental in the effective operation of the Navy Lessons Program.
Not only will you be directly assisting with the implementation of the Navy Lessons Program, you will also be responsible for working with minimal supervision in the application of your knowledge management skills to ensure that the program’s knowledge repository is structured and managed in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Applicants will need to demonstrate an ability to:
- Assist with content, collation and management of the Navy Lessons knowledge repository;
- Manage knowledge repositories and associated technology;
- Engage with Navy stakeholders to assist and train them in the application of the Navy Lessons Program;
- Provide administrative support to the Navy Lessons Working Group and Lessons Board;
- Provide Navy Lessons Program reports and returns on behalf of the Lessons team;
- Liaise and collaborate with other Defence Group and Service Lessons stakeholders to assist in the improvement of the Navy Lessons and overarching Defence Lessons programs.
About our Team
Working to the Director Navy Governance, you are part of a team embedded in a dynamic environment, supporting Navy outcomes. You will be part of the Navy Governance team, which currently consists of a blended workforce of Navy, Australian Public Service and Contractors. The key part of your role will be working with the Navy Library team to manage and ensure integration of the Navy Lessons Program on behalf of the Chief of Staff Navy Headquarters.

- An ability to handle sensitive information in accordance with government security requirements.
