Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
The School Nurse works in partnership with the School to create an environment that promotes healthy living, as well as responding to the needs of individual children. He/She also has a community health role, addressing the needs of ISPH families as a whole, including children at home as well as parents and carers.
The key responsibilities of the School Nurse include:

• Provide health care services to students
• Provide First Aid as necessary for students and staff
• Maintain health records of students with confidentiality
• Liaise and advise parents as and when necessary on matters concerning their child
• Advise on the purchase of furniture and essential medical supplies
• Maintain a clean and healthy work environment
• Establish policies to meet emergencies
• Assess the health needs of the School community and develop a health plan
• Provide confidential health advice for individual children
• Support, advise, counsel and refer children experiencing mental health problems
• Promote good parenting skills by helping and supporting parents
• Support vulnerable children by working alongside teachers and other professionals
• Provide training for school-based staff to support children with healthcare needs, such as asthma, diabetes or epilepsy
• Contribute to the personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum
• Provide advice for parents, carers and school staff on childhood illnesses and the management and control of infectious diseases

Advise on such issues (age appropriate):

• Exercise and healthy eating
• Mental health and wellbeing, including dealing with depression and bullying
• Gender health and relationships, including teenage pregnancy
• Smoking, drug and alcohol abuse

Other Responsibilities:

• Actively support and adhere to the Child Protection Policy, including attending annual training.
• Other tasks assigned by the lined managers.

• Should have an understanding of how schools operate.
• Should be pro-active, positive, approachable and well-organised.
• Should have a good command of spoken and written English language.
• Should show a willingness to be involved in the life of the school over and above the administrative role.
• Should enjoy working with children and young people.
• Should be highly trustworthy, honest and dependable.

Minimum Work Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience required.
• Previous experience of working in an international school is desired yet not essential.
• Experience of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Academic/Professional Qualifications:

• Graduate degree in a relevant discipline.
