As a Wildlife Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the conservation and management of wildlife populations. This position involves working closely with various animal species, ensuring their health and well-being while adhering to environmental laws and regulations. You will be responsible for conducting assessments, administering medications, and providing care for animals in both natural habitats and rehabilitation settings.
Responsibilities
Conduct wildlife assessments to monitor animal health and population dynamics.
Administer medications and provide medical care as needed, ensuring proper dosage and treatment protocols are followed.
Handle and restrain animals safely to minimize stress and injury during examinations or treatments.
Maintain accurate records of animal care, treatments administered, and observations made during fieldwork.
Collaborate with veterinarians to develop treatment plans for injured or ill wildlife.
Educate the public on wildlife conservation efforts, environmental laws, and the importance of protecting natural habitats.
Participate in research projects related to wildlife behavior, physiology, and ecology.
Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental laws and regulations regarding wildlife management.
Requirements
Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and microbiology.
Experience in animal handling and restraint techniques.
Familiarity with veterinary practices is preferred but not mandatory.
