Position Summary

The primary purpose of this job is to administer and proctor both paper and computer-based exams for RCC and Non RCC students according to the guidelines in the RCC Test Proctors Manual; to proctor Placement and other outer-agency exams according to agency guidelines; to intake and secure all exams and proctoring instructions Maintain confidentiality and integrity of exams and testing proctoring data throughout the testing process; to communicate clearly and effectively with instructors and students Perform clerical duties in of the Testing Center; maintain a calm, clean, orderly and distraction-free testing environment.


Examples of Duties - Essential Functions

Testing
  • Understand and execute standards outlined in the test proctor procedure manual
  • Proctor exams for internal and external credit bearing courses
  • Records and maintains mandatory testing data

Administrative
  • Maintains safe and accessible offices and testing rooms
  • Maintains copies, handouts, forms, schedules, and policies
  • Organize and archive physical exam files
  • Maintain exam counts spreadsheet
  • Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment in-person and virtually

Other Duties as Assigned
  • May participate in College committees as assigned
  • Engages in professional growth opportunities as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Screening Criteria

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education – An Associate’s degree is required. It is a disqualifying factor for an individual in this position to be enrolled in an RCC Associate’s degree or Certification program at the time of employment.
  • Experience – A minimum of one year and three months of clerical experience requiring attention to detail, dealing with the public, using computers, and monitoring tests is required.
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.

Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for the requirement(s).

Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Core Competencies)
  • Knowledge – Recordkeeping and statistical report preparation; general office procedures and equipment including computers and various software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite® products; and testing procedures. Internet applications; and FERPA regulations.
  • Skills – Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills; computer skills; prioritizing, organizing, and problem-solving skills. Skill in diffusing stressful situations.
  • Abilities – Work independently and problem-solve to make minor decisions and prioritize duties. Maintain a high level of attention to detail. Maintain communication with other staff. Operate office equipment and use computers and software programs. Maintain confidentiality of information and data.

Other Requirements
  • Testing Certifications, Pearson VUE, Accuplacer, Scantron, PSI, Metro/ODA, Oregon Building Codes, Kryterion, Pan, MSSC, Certiport, and NHA. Must aquire within six months of hire.
  • For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30-days of employment, and maintenance of an acceptable driving record are required.

Physical Demands

  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 50%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials, 5 lbs. or less daily, and 5-25 lbs. occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate.


Additional Posting Information
This is a Full-time Classified, 40 hour per week (100%) position in the Academic Success department. Starting compensation is entry level for Group 5 on the 2024-25 Classified Wage Schedule.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness
