Job Summary: The Teacher Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting teachers and enhancing the learning experience of students. This position is responsible for reinforcing classroom instruction, assisting in administrative tasks, and providing a safe, organized learning environment. The Teacher Assistant will work closely with lead teachers to address individual student needs, support lesson delivery, and foster a positive and kind classroom setting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide assistance and reinforcement for classroom instruction, offering one-on-one or small group instruction as needed.
Review, reteach, and reinforce lesson materials, concepts, and skills to ensure student understanding.
Help lead teachers develop lesson plans and assessments aligned with school curriculum requirements and individual student needs.
Assist teachers with tasks such as attendance, grading, and other record-keeping activities.
Prepare and organize materials and equipment to facilitate effective lesson delivery.
Provide additional supervision during class, morning duty, lunch, recess, transitions, and on school outings or field trips.
Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed.
Collaborate with lead teachers to identify challenges faced by students, offering solutions such as differentiated instruction
Assist in documenting student progress and communicating updates to parents, following the guidance and supervision of the lead teacher and Division Director
Attend all training sessions, parent conferences, faculty meetings, and relevant school events, including those that may fall outside regular working hours.
In the event of a teacher’s absence, be prepared to implement lesson and unit plans and lead the class in accordance with established routines.
Support teachers in monitoring each child’s development, promoting learning and growth.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the classroom and school environment.
Qualifications: Knowledge Skills and Ability Required:
B.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching
Valid certification in teaching in a related subject area.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total
school program.
Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
Meet professional teacher education requirements.
Bilingual preferred (English & Spanish)
Previous teaching experience preferred
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Involves standing, walking, and actively supervising students both indoors and outdoors under a variety of weather conditions.
Occasionally be able to lift, push, pull or carry equipment and materials weighing 30 pounds or more.
May deal with highly stressful situations in the normal course of duties.
Tasks are regularly performed with some risk of exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as humidity, rain, and temperature extremes.
