Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Control Prevention
Cypress Glen Retirement Community, a Continuing Care/Life Plan Retirement Community located in Greenville, NC is currently seeking a Staff Development Coordinator . SUMMARY Assists the Director of Health Services in maintaining high standards of patient care and assures that all policies and procedures, state regulations and guidelines are practiced. This is to be accomplished by ensuring proper training and education of staff. Responsible for the coordination of the educational and training processes for new and existing employees. Participates in performing audits to assure compliance and reports results at QAPI. Also has the role of Infection Preventionist for the facility.
Coordinate and comply with all staff-related training requirements.
Develops, provides and teaches in-service education for nursing staff and other departments as needed.
Plans, conducts and evaluates organized orientation and training programs for all newly hired nursing employees. Reviews orientation checklists for completion and ensure it is returned to HR.
Ensures all newly hired nursing department employees receive TB tests per policy. Assist as needed in providing initial TB test for new employees. Assist with follow up on annual employee TB tests.
Completes most training but has the ability to occasionally bring in outside resources as needed.
Plan and publish monthly and annual training calendar to meet facility policy, needs and regulation requirements.
Coordinates and maintains an in-service record on each employee, noting dates and subjects completed. Keeps an organized work environment with the ability to quickly pull up accurate, up to date in-service records and program materials.
Ensures compliance of staff members attending in-service meetings and issues disciplinary action when necessary for compliance with mandatory meetings.
Assists with the implementation and training of new employees on the Electronic Medical Records
Provides training to employees on all three shifts including weekends as needed.
Must teach the hospitality promises and must provide an exemplary example for staff to follow.
Actively participates in Infection Control and Resident Fall Prevention programs in order to determine areas for staff improvement. Has the role of Infection Preventionist for the facility. Schedules meetings and maintains minutes. Reports results at QAPI.
Actively participates in department safety meetings, provides in-services as requested by the safety team leader.
Stays abreast of current and changing rules and regulations and implements new training as indicated
Coordinates student clinical dates with outside agencies and provides student/instructor orientation to facility. Keeps an accurate record of social accountability hours.
Participates in weekly and week end rotation of on call for nursing department.
RN required, BSN preferred and 1 to 2 years of Long Term Care Experience with teaching or training experience preferred or a combination of education and experience.
