Position Overview
The Sales & Catering Manager at Courtyard by Marriott is responsible for driving revenue growth through targeted sales efforts and the effective management of catering events. This role focuses on building and maintaining client relationships, coordinating events, and ensuring the seamless delivery of services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality sales, event planning, and customer service, with a commitment to meeting and exceeding revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy and Business Development
Identify, solicit, and secure new corporate, group, and leisure accounts to meet hotel revenue goals.
Develop and implement strategic sales plans to capture new business and expand existing client relationships.
Conduct sales calls, on-site visits, and presentations to prospective clients.
Maintain a strong presence in the local market by attending networking events, trade shows, and community functions.
Event Coordination and Execution
Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of catering events, including meetings, conferences, banquets, and social gatherings.
Collaborate with clients to determine event requirements, including menu selection, room setup, audiovisual needs, and special requests.
Ensure effective communication and coordination between clients and hotel departments to guarantee smooth execution.
Revenue Management and Reporting
Achieve and exceed individual and team revenue targets for both sales and catering.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to adjust strategies accordingly.
Prepare detailed sales reports, forecasts, and budgets, and present them to senior management.
Client Relationship Management
Develop strong relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business and referrals.
Handle client inquiries, resolve complaints promptly, and ensure customer satisfaction at all stages of the sales and event process.
Team Collaboration and Leadership
Work closely with the hotel’s leadership team, including General Manager, Director of Sales, and Food & Beverage Manager, to align sales strategies with overall business objectives.
Provide guidance and training to staff involved in event setup and service to maintain Marriott brand standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hospitality sales or event management, preferably within the Marriott brand.
Strong knowledge of catering operations, sales techniques, and market analysis.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in hotel sales systems and software, such as Delphi or Opera.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
