POSITION PURPOSE
The Regulatory & Sustainability Manager – NAM is responsible for sustainability and the regulatory compliance of products produced or sold by Bona US. This individual is highly knowledgeable of regulations concerning sustainability, environmental, and product compliance. As one of our key focus areas, this person will help to support Bona’s global sustainability initiatives by serving as a driver and ambassador for sustainability. This individual will have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Global Sustainability Manager, who is responsible for global regulatory compliance and sustainability. The Regulatory & Sustainability Manager – NAM will serve as a member of the global team to ensure regional alignment and implementation of global standards and initiatives. This position provides reporting and escalations to the Sr. Director of Manufacturing and partners with all manufacturing and distribution sites (own and toll), product management, R&D, and sales teams. This individual is a resource for questions and provides clarification of requirements and is also responsible for providing training throughout the organization as needed. The Regulatory & Sustainability Manager – NAM will contribute to a positive team atmosphere and will apply all internal guidelines in a fair and consistent manner.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DUTIES
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • B.S. Degree in a science discipline and/or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of experience in regulatory affairs and product compliance; global experience is highly desired
  • Chemical industry knowledge and environmental experience is critical
  • 2+ years of documented experience in managing and reporting sustainability initiatives is needed
  • Knowledge of European Sustainability regulations, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, and European Sustainability Reporting standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, works independently, displays initiative, and solves problems with proficiency
JOB DUTIES:
  • Responsible for regulatory affairs within Bona US by ensuring our company’s products comply with all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines set forth by regulatory bodies such as, but not limited to, TSCA, FIFRA, REACH, VOC, and EPA. Responsibilities also include sales of Bona US products to countries outside of the US.
  • Implements and serves as a driver and ambassador for sustainability initiatives within Bona NAM, including all associated reports/documentation.
  • Works closely and maintains strong relationships with the Global Sustainability Team; this position will be an essential part of this team.
  • Ensure compliance with all active product certifications such as GREENGUARD, Green Seal, and EPA Safer Choice.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, permits, registrations, NGO reporting, and other documentation required for product approval, importation, and maintenance.
  • Monitor and analyze emerging regulatory trends, legislation, and enforcement actions and proactively advise senior management on potential impacts and mitigation strategies.
  • Responsible for creating and managing Safety Data Sheets using Intelligent Authoring (IA) systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including US Manufacturing, R&D, Sales, Product Management and global business partners to ensure regulatory consideration and compliance is integrated into product development, labeling, and marketing initiatives.
  • Completes internal and external compliance reporting and handles third-party inquiries and audits.
  • Maintains and oversees written compliance programs such as ISO as needed and contributes to the development and continual improvement of the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Management Systems.
  • Able and willing to work necessary hours to meet all project deadlines, travel when necessary.
  • Develop mutually beneficial, respectful, and effective relationships with peers to ensure seamless coordination between departments, maximize synergy, and maintain a shared vision, strategy, and focus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to bend, climb stairs, and continuously stand or walk 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to move within the office and plant to reach file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to use dexterity to handle small safety equipment and/or hazardous material.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 15-25 pounds and frequently move equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively by listening and in both written and verbal forms.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Generally, works in an office environment but is also required to perform job duties in a typical manufacturing/plant setting.
  • This position regularly requires large amounts of time to be spent using safety equipment, which generally entails regular and repetitive motions along with exposure to loud noises or hazardous material. All safety procedures should be adhered to in these situations.
  • This position also requires some amount of time to be spent using computer equipment, which entails regular and repetitive motions.
  • Will regularly be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or chemicals. All safety procedures should be adhered to in each of these situations.

Compensation Range: $110,000 to $130,000 per year
Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and may fall outside of the range provided.
