Reading Tutor

Position Summary:
Position Summary
Be the difference and put your passion into action — join Reading Corps! Across the country, only one-third of students read at their grade level, but together, we can change that!

As a Reading Tutor, your crucial role will impact the lives of many children, offering vital assistance to those who need extra help reading at their grade level. Immerse yourself in a local school and support kindergarten through third grade students with one-on-one or paired guidance to enrich their reading skills. With training and on-site coaching, you'll be equipped to help children thrive. Your commitment during school hours throughout the academic year guarantees a significant impact.

Join our Ameri Corps team! We're on a mission to empower children through reading and are actively seeking tutors for the 2024-25 school year. Unleash your passion — become a Reading Tutor and be part of the change!

How You’ll Take Action
  • Be a caring adult who’s focused on helping students build their skills and confidence.
  • Track student progress and regularly meet with the school’s on-site coach.
  • Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software.
  • Commit to your own growth as a tutor through coaching, training, and professional development.
  • Represent Reading Corps at school events and share your experience with the community to raise awareness.
