Position Overview:
The Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) implements U Choose in partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPS), Healthy Teen Network (HTN), Planned Parenthood of Maryland (PPMD), and other members of the city-wide Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative (TPPI) Coalition. BCHD mobilized these partners to work together toward the shared goal of reducing teen pregnancy as a way of reaching the city-wide vision of improving the adolescent sexual health of Baltimore City infants, children, and adolescents.
The purpose of this position is to integrate to scale the U Choose project curricula within MOED’s youth workforce development initiatives which include YO! Baltimore, YO! Academy, Workforce Innovations Opportunity Act (WIOA)/Grads2Careers, and the PACT Program. The Program Coordinator will engage youth ages 18-24 and develop and implement activities in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Westside YO Center (WYOCC) based on the outlined curricula.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Overseeing the development, scheduling and planning of UCHOOSE workshops
-
Ensuring that workshops and activities are in compliance with grant guidelines and requirements
-
Documenting outcomes of each workshop and storing all information in an electronic database
-
Developing or overseeing the development of marketing material, i.e. flyers, social media posts, etc. of program activities and upcoming events
-
Participate in team meetings and other planned gatherings, trainings, etc.

Act as a liaison between MOED and the Baltimore City Health Department
-
Develops and recommends to the Program Manager strategies to improve productivity of the UCHOOSE Program
-
Collaborating and partnering with other facilitators for co-facilitating, co-planning and other opportunities to learn and fulfill program objectives and goals

Oversee 1-2 youth facilitators who will assist with the carrying out of program goals and activities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for development and coordination of program schedule in collaboration with program management team

Engage, motivate, support, lead, and supervise youth participants during activities
-
Lead with positive values and ethical behavior for quality programming at all times

Organize and collaborate with all team members, and community partners, on implementation of program goals
-
Serve as a lead presenter/facilitator of prescribed curricula after initial training of trainers
-
Document and maintain youth participant records in a confidential and timely manner, following all agency procedures
-
Prepare data as required for submittal of monthly, quarterly and annual reports
-
Participate in planning, implementation and staffing for all youth programming, including weekend and weekday evening events

Conduct program orientation through presentations, networking and outreach events
-
Establish and maintain positive and appropriate professional relationships with youth
-
Plan and implement program activities based on youth interest
-
Work closely with Program Manager to maximize operational efficiencies to meet performance goals
-
Maintain current youth engagement activities such as YO! Live and both male and female support groups
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-
Expert level written and verbal communication skills (English required).

Experience in project management

Understand the concept of youth development

Very strong organizational skills and highly detail-oriented

Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including youth, staff, service providers, businesses, and other external partners

Ability to effectively collect and analyze data, present findings and recommend viable options for addressing problems/ challenges

Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability

Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; and

Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications (i.e., MS Office Suite: Word and Excel) and project management applications

Experience with Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) case management software preferred
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
-
A high school diploma
-
Experience with facilitation, youth engagement, etc.

An equivalent combination of education and experience
