Description The interior technician is responsible for inspecting and repairing the interiors for various types of vehicles including seats, upholstery, carpet, and dashboards. The technician will provide excellent customer service and support in a fast-paced environment. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of materials, and an understanding of automotive interior systems. Requirements Duties and responsibilities Inspect and Diagnose: Examine vehicle interior for wear, damage, and potential issues. Repairs: Perform repairs on damaged interiors utilizing available tools/products. Interior Repair and Maintenance: Inspect and diagnose issues with vehicle interiors, including seats, carpet, and upholstery. Repair worn-out or damaged parts such as seat covers, door panels, dashboards, carpet, and consoles. Detailing and Finishing: Clean and condition vehicle interiors, including leather and fabric surfaces. Conduct quality checks to ensure repairs and installations meet safety and quality standards. Ensure the interior has a flawless finish, matching the original manufacturer’s design when needed. Material Handling and Cutting: Work with various materials, including leather, vinyl, fabric, carpet and plastics, to repair interior components. Customer Service: Communicate effectively with team members/customers regarding the vehicle's condition and provide clear explanations for recommended services. Compliance: Follow all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Documentation: Record all services provided, including repairs, replacements, and adjustments, in the shop's system or service tickets. Qualifications Education/Other: · High school diploma or equivalent required. · Valid driver’s license required. Experience: · One year of previous experience as an automotive touch-up technician or related field is required. Skills: · Knowledge of automotive interior components and materials. · Familiarity with various cleaning products and techniques for different materials. · Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and upholstery machines. · Attention to detail and precision in repair work. · Good communication and customer service skills. Working conditions · Work is typically performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and automotive chemicals. · Exposure to adhesives, solvents and other chemicals. · May require standing, walking, and lifting heavy objects.
