About the role
Packback is looking for a People Operations Specialist to join our team. We’re looking for HR folks who have experience working as a generalist and wearing multiple hats within the People Operations function. Your main focus at Packback will be in Recruiting, Onboarding, Learning & Development and Employee Communication and Events. You are someone who has worked at a smaller, fast-paced organization where you've owned multiple disciplines within People Operations. You prioritize a positive and equitable employee and candidate experience in all of your work, and know that while we have a lot to get done in a day as an HR person, we can never stop moving forward.
What you'll do
Talent Acquisition
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing, job postings, screening resumes, conducting and scheduling interviews, and negotiating offers
- Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their hiring needs and develop job descriptions and interview plans tailored to the specifics of their roles
- Use various sourcing strategies, including Linked In Recruiter, AI tools, job boards, and networking, to identify and attract candidates. Partner with Marketing on social posts that positively impact our employer brand.
- Maintain the applicant tracking system to ensure an efficient recruitment process and positive candidate experience
Onboarding
- Own and enhance the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into Packback
- Partner with hiring managers to ensure all new employees have a fully developed onboarding plan, including a 30/60/90 with clear milestones
- Develop onboarding materials and resources to familiarize new employees with company culture, policies, and procedures
- Coordinate orientation sessions and training for new employees, connecting them with key team members and resources
- Gather feedback from new hires to iterate and improve the onboarding experience
Employee Communication & Experience
- Partner with CEO and VP, People on company communication, including owning agendas and decks for weekly company-wide meetings and monthly town halls
- Build relationships with leaders across Packback to ensure we have clear cross-company communication
- Maintain our intranet so information is accurate, easily to find, and consumable
- Partner with VP, People on employee survey and focus group program
Learning & Development
- Design and implement onboarding and training programs for new hires and ongoing development for existing employees. Partner with departments to identify what training needs are unique within a team and what can be scaled across Packback
- Coordinate workshops, seminars, and training sessions, both live and content built for our LMS
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and performance metrics, and make improvements as necessary
Company Events
- Organize and coordinate employee events, including team-building activities, training sessions, and company celebrations
- Manage event logistics, including budgeting, venue selection, and vendor coordination.
Qualifications
- 3+ years in an HR or People Operations role where you have had to work in multiple disciplines across HR, including L&D, recruiting, and employee experience
- 2+ years of full lifecycle recruiting for roles across the business, including sales and software engineering hiring
- Proven experience designing and delivering training experiences
- Proficiency using and administering Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), such as Greenhouse, Lever, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and designing training programs that are impactful and consumable
- This is a hybrid role and requires working every Thursday in our office in downtown Chicago

- Project Management: ability to plan, organize, lead, and control projects to ensure they are completed successfully with strong attention to detail
- Program Development: ability to identify area of focus, define objectives, scope framework of project, build materials with targeted delivery methods, plan to assess results and revise
- Exceptional communication (spoken and written) skills across levels (internal and external) with a high degree of discretion, professionalism, and diplomacy

- This is a hybrid role and requires working every Thursday in our office in downtown Chicago
- The salary range for this role is $77,000 to $90,000, with an annual bonus opportunity
