Part Time Security Guard

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking applicants for a Part Time Security Guard. This position is Saturday-Sunday from 12:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (may include holidays). The selected candidate will staff the Visitor Center, conduct security patrols, respond to alarms and emergencies, monitor CCTV systems, and maintain the security of the SDL campus. The candidate must be punctual and reliable, and able to work alone, walk across uneven surfaces, climb stairs, and tolerate adverse weather conditions.

The Space Dynamics Laboratory, a University Affiliated Research Center, has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge Do D and intelligence programs for over six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Greet and assist visitors
Maintain and process daily visit logs
Answer phones
Ensure security protocol is followed
Respond to alarm and emergencies
Assist first responders during emergencies

Required Qualifications:

U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
Experience with programming and issuing security badges
Experience operating CCTV systems
Experience handling and protecting sensitive information
Experience with Microsoft Office software, and various other equipment
Experience performing foot patrols and alarm/emergency response
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external customers
Ability to present a professional, friendly demeanor
Excellent verbal, written, and professional communication skills
Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to prioritize tasks
Possess observation and decision-making skills
Demonstrate organizational skills
Demonstrate adaptability and stress management skills
Possess time and task management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work extended hours, covering other shifts during the week as needed
Working knowledge of S2 access control software
Working knowledge of Milestone Software
