The Pallet Repair & Recycling Technician plays a vital role assisting with maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient corporate office and warehouse environment. This position requires an entry level skill set encompassing general building maintenance and custodial duties. Ability to complete minor carpentry repairs on used pallets for reservice, able to operate baler & trash compactor under the direction of the Facilities and Safety Manager. Being able to adapt to new situations and environments is a must. Responsibilities include routine assisting with equipment upkeep, adherence to safety protocols, and timely task completion. Effective time management, physical dexterity, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this role. The maintenance apprentice works alongside fully qualified maintenance technicians to learn the skills of the trade. Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm $17.50 Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Pallet Maintenance: Broken boards, damaged stringers, or other faulty components are replaced with new ones. Nails are secured or replaced, loose boards are reattached, and any other necessary fixes are performed.
Performs routine custodial work such as: spot cleaning; removing trash in accordance with established procedures; cleaning, disinfecting facilities.
Continuously assess and monitor the condition of the facility, including electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, flooring, and walls, and assist the maintenance team in addressing any issues that arise as needed.
Assist with conducting routine and ad-hoc maintenance on essential warehouse equipment, such as carts, roll-up doors, dock plates, pallet jacks, and power trucks, ensuring they remain in optimal working condition.
Regularly inspect and repair warehouse racks as needed, ensuring their structural integrity and safety. Assist with a wide range of maintenance tasks with a high degree of self-reliance and efficiency.
Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and safety to ensure a comfortable and secure workplace for all employees.
Skillfully operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment when required, prioritizing safety and precision in all activities.
Skills & Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to perform basic carpentry skills.
Ability to understand basic instructions and follow a task check list.
Must be able to manage priority list and meet deadlines.
Working knowledge of custodial cleaning techniques and products
Knowledge of safety procedures.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Minimum 6 months prior experience in maintenance, custodial or tradesmen related field.
Working knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools.
