Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm, has been engaged by lumber company to conduct a search for a Mill Supervisor in Southeast, NC. The Mill Supervisor will lead mill operations, ensure safety compliance, manage production metrics, and support a dedicated production team. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in mill operations with strong skills in team leadership, safety, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Talent Management
Lead and mentor the mill crew, manage performance reviews, and address personnel issues
Recommend wage adjustments, oversee employee changes, and manage disciplinary actions
Ensure crew members receive proper training on equipment and safety
Manage certification processes, vacation approvals, and timesheets
Participate in hiring and training new team members
Mill Operations
Prepare and direct the crew for daily operations, with a focus on quality control and safety
Oversee production metrics, manage species changeovers, and troubleshoot performance issues
Support budgeting efforts and assist in meeting financial targets
Provide backup support to senior operations leadership
Ensure equipment maintenance and optimal operation, including kiln-dried and lumber handling processes
Team Collaboration
Collaborate closely with maintenance and other supervisory teams to maintain smooth operations
Participate in safety meetings, maintenance shutdowns, and capital planning
Stay current with new equipment and production technology developments
Engage in ongoing professional development and uphold the company's core values
Requirements:
At least 5 years of supervisory experience within mill or manufacturing operations
Strong knowledge of safety regulations and quality control in production
Exceptional communication and leadership abilities
Proficiency in managing performance metrics and resolving operational issues
