People One Health Float Medical Assistant Description of Duties and Responsibilities
This position requires travel to our 4 primary care locations each week. Our offices are located in Pittsburgh, Cheswick, Sarver & Seven Fields.
Member Success:
- Maintains a working knowledge of People One Health membership plans and how to access the needed information.
- Guides the member experience by providing information, education regarding options for care, and available resources
- Manages, conducts, and tracks outreach initiatives for the member population
- Provides exceptional customer service by answering inbound calls or online inquiries regarding services, claims, benefits, eligibility, provider searches, and other health-related questions and following up with members to ensure their needs are met.
- Utilizes technology, data, and other internal information to assist employees in obtaining the best and most cost-efficient health care for disease and condition management.
Front Office:
- Manages office telephone systems, including answering calls and returning messages
- Schedules patient appointments and maintains communication to confirm future appointments
- Documents patient's medical information, including medical information and health insurance information
- Performs data entry tasks to document patient records within facility databases and maintains patient files
- Ensures patients are pre-approved for care by collecting prior authorization from the insurance provider.
- Coordinates daily office activities, greets patients, and checks patients in and out for appointments.
Back Office:
- Records patient's vital signs, documents physician notes, and changes in medical conditions in the proper systems.
- Collects blood, tissue, and fluid samples, documents in the patient online database and sends them in for laboratory analysis
- Correctly handles biohazard waste.
- Preps exam rooms for clinical procedures and assists practitioners with patient care
- Assists physicians during routine checkups, outpatient procedures, and other physical exams
- Monitors and thoroughly documents patient symptoms for physician review during clinical exams.
- Provides compassionate patient support and care, attention, and assistance during office visits
- Prepares and administers medications under the direction of supervising physicians
- Additional responsibilities as required.
People One Health Medical Assistant Qualifications:
Education:
- Must be a graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program. Certification preferred.
Experience:
- 2-5 years prior experience in a medical office preferred
- Certifications
- Current CPR Certification
- Current AED Certification
Clearances:
- Child Clearance - Act 33
- Criminal Clearance - Act 38
- FBI Clearance - Act 73
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient with technology, including Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite, or related software

- Basic understanding of medical terminology, coding procedures, and clinical pharmacology
- Displays enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward coworkers and all members of the practice
- Understands and adheres to patient confidentiality

Special Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, there is possible exposure to blood and body fluids, infectious diseases, chemicals, and repetitive motions.
- The employee is regularly required to sit and use a computer.
