VICENTE’S TROPICAL SUPERMARKET POSITION DESCRIPTION Job Title: Meat Clerk/Cutter Level 2 Department: Meat Reports To: Meat Manager Job Function: To cut meat and prepare related products in the variety, size, quality and trim prescribed by company and department standards; to communicate and courteously assist customers with the selection of meat items. Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance.
Promote a neat and favorable store image to customers by contributing to efforts to keep your department clean, attractive, well stocked and friendly.
Follow approved procedures for weighing and breaking down meat products.
Follow weights and measures guidelines.
Price and display product in cases as directed by department manager.
Assist in wrapping and labeling of product as required.
Assist in checking and verifying meat department receiving when required.
Follow approved procedures for weighing, wrapping, price marking and restocking cases to ensure quality protection, accuracy, and product rotation.
Take finished products to refrigerated storage or shelf areas.
Identify all department products and locations.
Perform general housekeeping and sanitations standards in compliance with our store policy, department standards and state and local health regulations on a regular ongoing basis.
Check equipment daily for proper performance.
Maintain shrink within acceptable parameters as set by ownership.
Perform other duties as directed.

Observe shift operating hours at all times as scheduled by the manager.
Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations.
Comply with safety policies and procedures.
Maintain good communications in the department and throughout the organization.

Requirements:
Must have at least 1 year of experience cutting Red Meat, Boneless Pork and Ribs (willing to work with 6 months)
Must be thoroughly familiar and willing to comply with all priorities and store policies pertaining to the position, including punctual and reliable attendance.
Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, etc.
Must be able to accurately complete required reports including the daily sales report, inventory counts, receiving logs, and cash accountability or cash reconciliation and audit forms.
Must have the ability to read, write, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency.
Must be knowledgeable in the various types of product carried in the department.
Must be able to perform all duties and responsibilities in an efficient and satisfactory manner that meets the minimum standards for productivity, accuracy, cleanliness, harmony and safety.
Must be 18 years of age to operate any mechanical equipment.
Must have afternoon and weekend availability.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift heavy objects occasionally.
Must be able to climb a ladder to retrieve items from overhead racks and storage areas such as trays and wrapping material.
Must be able to sweep and mop floors and lift and carry out trash containers to be emptied outside the department.
Must have sufficient physical mobility or agility to be able to respond quickly to fire or other emergencies such as cleanup requests due to accidental spills, etc.
Must be able to work in an environment that has fresh and smoked meat products without negative allergic consequences that adversely affect performance.
Must be able to work in an environment that includes continuous duties in refrigerated cutting rooms and storage areas (relatively high humidity) with occasional duties in frozen food storage boxes maintained at temperatures as low as 20 degrees (Fahrenheit) below zero.
