Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections of equipment, systems, and building infrastructure. This includes preventive maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and ensuring the safety and functionality of all machinery and systems to minimize downtime and operational disruptions. Key Responsibilities:
Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
Repairs and Troubleshooting: Diagnose issues with equipment, plumbing, electrical, or structural systems and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
Equipment Monitoring: Monitor the performance of building systems and equipment, ensuring that they operate efficiently and safely.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed, repairs, and inspections. Document any issues or recommendations for improvements.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, building codes, and organizational standards. Follow all established safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
Emergency Repairs: Respond to emergency repair requests in a timely manner to minimize disruption to operations.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as production, facilities management, and operations, to address maintenance needs and schedule downtime when necessary.
Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring adequate stock levels for repairs and replacements.
Energy Efficiency: Assist in initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing utility costs, such as inspecting insulation, lighting, and HVAC systems.
Project Assistance: Assist in larger maintenance or renovation projects, which may include equipment upgrades, system installations, and facility renovations.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: 2+ years of experience in maintenance preferred, facilities management, or a related field, preferably in an industrial, commercial, or residential setting. On-job training available.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems. Ability to operate and troubleshoot hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects ranging from 25 pounds occasional 50-100 pounds, stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. Must be comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces and heights.
Certifications: OSHA safety certifications and other relevant certifications (e.g., electrical, HVAC) are a plus.
Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills to document and report issues effectively.
Work Environment:
Primarily on-site, working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Exposure to noisy or hazardous work environments, requiring the use of protective gear.
May require on-call availability or shift work depending on operational needs.
