About Us Family Centered Services of Alaska (FCSA) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation founded in 1989 by Fairbanks, Alaska community members committed to helping children with a wide spectrum of behavioral and mental health needs. Today, FCSA has over 100 employees dedicated to our mission of providing unconditional care to children and their families. FCSA provides behavioral and mental health services to youth aged 5-19. Services include outpatient therapy, education, foster care, and short or long-term residential treatment. About the Job Family Centered Services of Alaska is searching for a Maintenance Technician to provide maintenance services to all FCSA facilities. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing all functions related to building, equipment, and vehicle maintenance. Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance and repair of property, equipment and grounds of the office complex, school, and treatment units.
Perform demolition, cut-out, patching and general construction work as needed.
Coordinate performance of duties to ensure least possible disruption of office routines.
Prioritize routine maintenance requests from staff.
Share in the responsibility of any other duties to be performed for the safety committees, such as standards and procedures.
Assume responsibility for the appearance of the building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, lawns, yards and playgrounds in a neat, clean and safer manner at all times.
Shovel snow and /or salt and sand sidewalks and steps as needed or directed.
Assume responsibility as assigned for opening building and to check daily that all exit doors are open, and all panic hardware is working properly and to determine before leaving that lights are turned off except those required for security.
Conduct ongoing program of general maintenance and upkeep as required and as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Make emergency repairs when possible and report needed repairs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Eligible for on-call responsibilities in case of emergencies.
Climb ladders as work requires.
Receive supplies in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.
As needed, regulate heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems to provide temperature appropriate to the season and according to energy conservation standards to insure economical usage of fuel, electricity.
Move or stack furniture, desks, tables, chairs or equipment within buildings as required for various activities as directed by the supervisor or principal.
Remain on the school premises during school hours and authorized non-school hours as required by the Facilities Director.
Remove trash and garbage both inside and outside of building.
Must be able to lift and move at least 50lbs.
Perform other duties of maintenance and repair as requested by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
H.S Diploma or GED Required.

Prior experience or training in building maintenance and/or construction trades preferred. Ability to operate equipment used in the building.
Freedom from criminal convictions that may adversely affect the employee’s ability to work safely with children, contingent on a fingerprint & background records check conducted by the State of Alaska Division of Health Care Services Background Check Unit.
Current Alaska driver’s license, personal vehicle insurance, and driving history that allows for insurability by FCSA auto insurance carrier.
This position is a driving position. Applicants will be required to submit a driving record if selected for the position. All applicants must be at least 21 years of age due to State of AK regulations and must pass a State of AK Background Check.
