The Life Skills Supervisor II manages the daily operations of one of several OSBI Life Skills programs. The Supervisor’s duties include but are not limited to developing, scheduling, and delivering program classes and activities to address the ISP goals and objectives of the members assigned to the DTA, collaborating with other DTA supervisors, program directors, and the Senior Life skills Program director to insure a consistent development and delivery of Life Skills and collaborating with Vocational Recreational, and Arts program directors and coordinators to insure that members have access to all opportunities provided at OSBI. The Supervisor is also responsible to supervise, mentor and support direct support staff, communicate regularly with parents or guardians, and manage daily administrative tasks in alliance with DDD program specifications and OSBI policies and procedures. And maintaining communication with program member’s families. Finally, the Supervisor is responsible for facilitating all necessary actions to achieve success for program members and realize the Mission and Vision of OSBI. Qualifications:
AA degree in special education, rehabilitation, or related human services field preferred
2+ years working with individuals with intellectual disability
Proficiency in computer use (Microsoft Office Applications & scheduling software)
Experience in: leadership, innovation, reliability, and effective communication
Strong organizational, inventory, curriculum and course preparation and delivery skills
Demonstration of knowledge of DDD and State regulations and best practices.
Appropriate certifications and clearance according to DDD State Regulations
Good driving record, must pass MVR inquiry
Responsibilities
Partner with the Life Skills Team to develop, deliver, and continuously improve the responsiveness of program curriculum and to plan and facilitate meaningful daily program and individualized member schedules to address member ISP goals and objectives.
Model and demonstrate appropriate behavior management techniques (Article 9 training) with program members and mentor staff to do the same.
Serve as a primary resource in planning ISP goals and collaborating with the member, parents/guardians and DDD Support Coordinators and OSBI Enrollment and ISP Coordinator to monitor and update program member ISP goals and objective progress, insuring that DSP staff document daily progress and that monthly progress reports are submitted to the Enrollment and ISP Coordinator on time.
Ensure program compliance with state regulations and complete timely reports (Ratios, Medication Distribution, Attendance logs, IRs, QA requirements, etc).
Collaborate with Life Skills Director and fellow supervisors to train, monitor, and support the direct support team in all direct service practices, including member’s safety measures, curriculum delivery support, positive behavior support, and progress report procedures.
Serve as a model, mentor, and supervisor to lead support staff, offering regular performance evaluation and support, and ensuring that the team has clearly defined roles and are aware of the requirements of their job, as well as demonstrating familiarity with One Step Beyond Employee Manual and personnel policies.
Handle difficult situations with a positive attitude by actively seeking problem resolution, creative solutions, and program and organizational enhancements to ensure individual and team performance as well as program effectiveness.
Motivate direct support team and work with other supervisors, directors, and others on the program teams to achieve effective collaborative interaction and mutual respect and support.
Continuously evaluate program effectiveness, and implement improvements and adjustments to program strategies.
