POSITION SUMMARY
Spencer Fane has an immediate opening for an Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney with a minimum of five years of experience preferred. We will consider candidates for any of our offices and you will be a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group. The candidate should have experience handling insurance coverage disputes in the commercial insurance sector. The ideal candidate will have experience with all phases of complex commercial litigation including, but not limited to, experience conducting factual investigations and discovery, preparing pleadings, taking depositions, participating in mediation, and extensive communication with clients.
The ideal candidate will also have experience representing clients in insurance coverage matters involving multiple types of insurance coverage, including commercial general liability, pollution liability, marine, directors and officers, professional liability, and errors and omissions. The experience should include reviewing commercial insurance policies, drafting coverage evaluations and reservation of rights letters, and extensive communication with clients regarding coverage issues and coverage positions. We look for proactive, dynamic, and entrepreneurial individuals with varied backgrounds, interests, and experience for a diverse candidate pool.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with attention to detail.
- Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.
- Manage and prioritize a diverse caseload.
- Work closely with partners on complex litigation matters.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, judges, mediators, arbitrators, and other parties involved in the litigation process.
- Participate in strategy discussions and case planning.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record
- Admission to the state bar corresponding to the office where the candidate is applying
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Ability to interface directly with attorneys and clients
- Demonstrate an ability to work independently and productively

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Position is generally sedentary in nature; involves sitting most of the time, but may involve the need for inter-office mobility for brief periods of time
- Ability to occasionally or routinely lift up to 10 – 20 lbs.

- Ability to perform repetitive motions required
- Ability to see and read PC screens, detect color coding, read fine print, and/or normal type size print
