INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS REPRESENTATIVE


Under the supervision of a Deputy Labor Commissioner III (Senior Deputy) or designee, the Industrial Relations Representative (IRR) conducts intake investigations and/or less complex assignments for settlement conferences or inspections. The IRR coordinates intake workshops or clinics in order to ensure claims filed by workers are complete, performs referrals to other units, educates the public on labor laws, and applies theories in order to assess violations on the liable employers in wage claim processing. In addition, the IRR performs a wide variety of duties involving enforcement of wage and hour laws in the Wage Claim Adjudication (WCA) program.

To be considered for this Industrial Relations Representative opportunity, applicants must be either on an employment list, have transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility.

Department Information
The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.
