POSITION OVERVIEW
The Hatch Cloth Inspector / Plaiter is responsible for all aspects of inspecting fabric. Tasks include manipulating rolls of fabric into position to thread onto grading frame and removing rolls from grading frame to conveyor after inspection. Tasks also include moving fabric from small doff tubs into larger doff tubs using a folding machine (plaiter). This includes manipulating smaller tubs of fabric underneath plaiter, threading fabric onto plaiter rolls, guiding fabric into larger tubs then moving filled larger wheeled tubs into staging area by pushing the tubs or use of a stand-up tugger. Identifies and flags defects in certain styles of fabric.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Regular and predictable attendance
Manipulating rolls of fabric at front and back of grading frames
Visually inspecting fabric for defects while it is moving on grading frame and entering defect information into computer system
Manipulating tubs of fabric at front and back of plaiter
Operating a serger (overlock) machine to sew together lengths of fabric
Identifies and flags defects in certain styles of fabric
Ability to work and communicate with other associates and managers regarding quality issues
Ability to work and communicate with other associates and managers regarding quality issues
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED
Previous Experience fabric inspection
Work well with team members
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
Must be able to understand and identify defects in knitted fabric
Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Able to work well with various groups of people such as vendors, customers, Milliken associates whether individually or in a team environment
Able to work well and communicate with production associates in order to assist with identification of defects
Able to lift and move objects of up to 50 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION
This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud.
SHIFT/WORK HOURS
Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire and will be communicated with new hire paperwork. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands.
