The Town of Aberdeen is currently seeking a customer-service oriented individual to join our dynamic team in the Administrative Assistant position for the Town Hall. This position will provide administrative support to both the Administration and Planning Departments to improve the current workflow. Duties will include answering the main telephone lines for the Town, greeting visitors, agenda packet preparation for various volunteer boards, processing of various planning and zoning applications, scheduling building inspections, attendance at various evening meetings and the recording of minutes, records retention, payroll processing, basic clerical support, and other related duties as assigned. Interested applicants should possess the following requirements: - Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and coordinate a variety of administrative and clerical duties simultaneously with a strong attention to detail; - Proficiency and skill in the operation of computers and other office related electronic equipment including strong skills in use of Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to learn new software; - Ability to meet and deal courteously with the general public in a variety of circumstances and situations; - Ability to write minutes from various meetings and produce final document for the record; - A minimum of 1 year of experience in a clerical or administrative position requiring the use of computers, organization of records and files, and positive interaction with the general public. Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to work flexible hours, including evening meetings as needed. The successful applicant must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background investigation, and credit check. Hiring range: $35,008 - $45,000, with excellent benefits package including 5% 401-k contribution, LGERS membership, paid medical, dental and life insurance, 12 paid holidays + paid birthday day off, 2 weeks of paid vacation, 12 sick days, and annual longevity payment.
