Job Description

Reports To: Senior Administrator, Employee Relations (or designee)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
School Classification: Classified
Pay Schedule: Range 2 ($22.59 - $30.40)
Work Schedule: 12 months
Location: Onsite and Remote Office

Position Summary The Employee Relations Technician supports the Human Resources department by maintaining accurate personnel records, overseeing employee documentation, and ensuring compliance with departmental processes. This position aligns with the mission, vision, and core values of the school and contributes to a positive workplace culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance Evaluation and Professional Development Support
  • Maintain performance evaluation and professional development records.
  • Track deadlines for evaluations and goal-setting processes.
  • Collect and monitor staff evaluations and completion status.
Leaves of Absence Support
  • Provide administrative support for leave of absence and accommodation processes.
  • Track and document leave cases, deadlines, and updates.
  • Communicate case status updates to employees, leadership, and HR as necessary.
  • Stay informed on state and federal leave regulations and recommend procedural updates.
Employee and Labor Relations
  • Assist with compliance research on employment laws and policies.
  • Update HR manuals, policies, and training materials as needed.
  • Prepare employee relations metrics and reports (e.g., turnover, retention).
  • Analyze retention trends and provide insights for improvement.
Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Management
  • Assist with maintaining HRIS and ensuring accuracy of employment records.
  • Audit employment data and assign required training, tracking completion status.


Recruitment and Documentation
  • Perform and track offboarding processes, ensuring all separation documentation is complete.
  • Draft and maintain work calendars and assist with recruitment tasks.
General Department and School Support
  • Provide clerical and operational support to the HR department and other school functions.
  • Support the development of a positive school culture and compliance with anti-discrimination policies.
  • Respond to HR-related inquiries and direct staff to appropriate resources.
Other Duties
  • Respond to all work-related correspondence within 24 business hours.
  • Document and refer formal disciplinary actions to appropriate personnel in compliance with school policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of clerical experience required.
  • One year of human resources experience preferred.
Certifications and Clearances
  • Fingerprint clearance (Live Scan) required prior to employment.
  • Proof of TB test completion within the last 60 days required.
  • Valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in office equipment and software, including Google Workspace.
  • Strong record-keeping, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and follow detailed procedures.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to hear, speak, sit, stand, bend, and lift objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
Work Environment
  • Primarily office-based, with occasional outdoor activities and travel up to 100 miles per day.
  • Moderate noise levels with frequent use of computers and office equipment.
