Position Summary
The EHS Supervisor will be responsible for leadership and execution of EHS responsibilities including contributing to development of safe work practices, providing EHS leadership in incident reviews and root cause analysis, and active involvement in case management during incident response. The EHS Supervisor will be responsible for supporting the execution of EHS responsibilities and process improvement efforts for a team of EHS Specialists and Clerks. This position will actively lead and support company initiatives/changes and have the ability to prioritize competing individual and team responsibilities. The position is responsible for supervising and developing a staff of employees and overseeing day to day processes and evaluating team's work within multiple disciplines. This position understands the purpose and cross functional impact of processes and has a command of EHS principles and procedures. In addition to supervisor responsibilities, this position may also encompass technical responsibilities of an EHS Specialist Level IV.
Essential Roles & Responsibilities
- Actively lead, coordinate, and prioritize environmental, health and safety management systems within an EHS functional area to assure compliance with applicable Federal, State and Local regulations and with internal expectations and goals Ensure company meets all compliance obligations
- Lead in the development, implementation and administration of contractor safety management program and review contractor's EHS performance to ensure work is performed in line with our company's EHS expectations
- Work closely with engineering and operations supervisors to ensure compliance with State, Federal and local regulations and internal policies, procedures and practices in our operated assets
- Prepare and deliver meaningful EHS information, performance metrics, analysis and reports within functional area Review data analysis and advise on continuous improvement in EHS programs and regulatory EHS reports as necessary for Utah BU.
- Stay appraised of new laws and regulations and their impact on our oil and gas operations Guide efforts to implement programs to ensure compliance with new laws and regulations
- Understand EHS actions and stakeholder impacts outside area of responsibility
- Lead and/or participate in department or cross functional projects/initiatives
- Identify, recommend and implement best practice, including Company SWPs and improvements to EHS processes within functional area
- Supervise and provide performance management for staff. Also responsible to insure UBU staff completes required Compliance training
- Basic ability to influence and communicate to various stakeholders
- Manage G&A budget within UBU.
- Review and approve New Contractor Request for UBU
- Other duties as assigned
Computer/Software Applications
Proficient computer literacy. Is an expert in the application of common business tools (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). Proficient knowledge with EHS and supporting applications. Ability to learn and lead adoption of new and changing systems and applications.
Typical Education
BS degree in Environment, Health, and Safety field, chemistry, engineering or related science is preferred or equivalent work experience and training which included positions of safety leadership.
Professional Safety and/or Environmental Certification is preferred Examples include BCSP certifications such as the OHST, CHST, ASP, or CSP designations
Typical Experience
Minimum of 8 years of oil and gas experience including 5 years of environmental/safety experience
