The Bilingual Educational Navigator is an essential member of the Learning Community Center of North Omaha (LCCNO) program team. This role involves recruiting, teaching, and engaging families in North Omaha to facilitate their connection to the program and other community services. The Navigator empowers parents by providing essential skills and knowledge, fostering a learning-friendly environment at home, and enabling parents to serve as role models for their children. Job-Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Screening and Recruitment: Screen parents interested in the program to assess eligibility. Recruit new families when necessary and maintain an organized tracking system for families on the waiting list.
Intake and In-Home Evaluations: Complete intake forms and conduct regular in-home evaluations with each parent participant.
Database Management: Track families using the program's database, ensuring accurate and timely updates with relevant notes, files, evaluations, and attendance records.
Promote Attendance: Encourage participants to maintain regular attendance and punctuality, providing motivation to adhere to program requirements.
Home Visits and Parent Support: Visit participant families in their homes to help establish educational and personal goals, address barriers to program engagement, and implement learning strategies from the center into the home environment.
Educational Planning and Coordination: Develop and coordinate individual educational/service plans for parents and their children, facilitating participation in learning opportunities within schools and the community. Refer families to appropriate community programs and services based on their needs.
Program Development: Identify topics to integrate into LCCNO sessions to meet the needs of program participants.
Community Outreach: Represent the LCCNO program in the community, serving as a liaison and presenting program information at community events, neighborhood meetings, schools, etc., to raise awareness of the program and its services.
Backup Supervision: Provide backup supervision for children or other area of operation as needed under the guidance of the Family Engagement Manager
Team Collaboration: Actively participate in staff meetings, offering ideas and feedback to improve the program.
Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the LCCNO program.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required. Degrees in Education or Social Work are preferred.
Experience: Background in schools with familiarity with educational techniques that enhance children's learning is preferred.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in word processing and Excel spreadsheets for data entry and record-keeping.
Transportation: Reliable transportation, with current vehicle registration, a valid driver’s license, and insurance with a good driving record.
