RESPONSIBILITIES: This is administrative work in directing a program of public health nursing, dental services, outreach programs, and communicable disease control services as a part of a County-wide health program. Work assignments arise from general suggestions by the Commissioner of Health or from necessity to develop and maintain public health nursing services. Emphasis of the work is on responsibility for planning and organizing a variety of clinic, home visiting, and school nursing activities. The employee must coordinate the work of the division with other public health activities of the department and the community. Work is subject to the general administrative direction of the Commissioner of Health. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing plus a Master’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration or related field, and five (5) years of experience in community health nursing including or supplemented by three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of, or eligibility for, a license as a registered nurse as issued by the New York State Board of Nurse Examiners.
