Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities or other needs in a group home setting. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for residents through personalized care and assistance with daily activities. This position requires a commitment to fostering independence and promoting dignity for each individual.
Duties
Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration..
Implement and monitor care plans tailored to each resident's specific needs.
Observe and document patient behavior, vital signs, and any changes in health status.
Provide first aid as necessary and respond effectively to emergencies.
Support residents in social activities and community engagement to promote social skills and independence.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other staff to ensure comprehensive care.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment within the group home.
Lift and assist residents as needed while ensuring their comfort and safety.
Requirements
Previous experience in a group home or similar setting is preferred with one year minimum experience.
OIS training and certificate required.
Knowledge of care plans, hospice care, patient observation, and vital signs is highly desirable.
Certification in First Aid and CPR is a plus.
Ability to administer medications according to established protocols.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
Physical ability to lift residents as required and perform tasks associated with caregiving duties.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in healthcare or related fields is an advantage.
