Description: Cook/Nutrition Coordinators are responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of foods for residents, employees, and visitors. May be required to help assist in serving food. Responsible for keeping a clean and orderly kitchen, following all company and state food regulations to ensure safe and sanitary food preparation and handling. Responsible for filling out all documentation, task sheets, and logs which are part of company and state requirements. You are expected to acquire knowledge about residents’ preferences in order to make the dining experience as pleasant as possible for the individual dining in your care.
Cook/Nutrition Coordinator duties may include assistance with the activities of daily living, housecleaning, laundry, transportation, companionship and respite.
Cook/Nutrition Coordinators are responsible for ensuring that service is delivered in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with relevant Agency policies and industry standards.
Reporting Relationship
Nutrition Coordinator reports to Facility Administrative Manager.
Responsibilities/Activities
Prepare and offer nourishing meals and snacks using as many non-processed foods as possible.
Maintain a safe culinary environment using strict infection control procedures.
Keep a clean and organized kitchen and kitchen equipment at all times.
Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations.
Efficiently coordinate the use of kitchen supplies and ingredients to avoid waste.
Monitor quality and freshness of ingredients.
Utilize ingredients and supplies creatively and productively.
Clean and properly store dishes after every meal.
Follow the provided 5-wk food menu for nutritionally sound meals, with the needs and preferences of the residents kept in mind.
Report shortages or needs of snacks or meal ingredients to the Facility Administrative Manager.
Report any broken or malfunctioning equipment to Facility Administrative Manager immediately.

Exhibit professional judgment in the performance of job duties.
Participate in performance review meetings with the supervisor.
Attend and participate in team meetings and trainings.
Participate in projects and committees as assigned.
Must be an enthusiastic team player.
Ensure that facility equipment is appropriately utilized, maintained, contained, and secure.
Assist caregivers as needed.

Requirements:
Physical and Mental Demands
Exposure to potentially dangerous kitchen equipment if improperly used.
Exposure to body fluids, infections, odors, and various types of resident behavior.
Exposure to chemical/cleaning solutions.
Requires considerable walking and standing
Considerable lifting up to 50 lbs, occasional pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs.
Requires frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and considerable reaching and handling.
Requires alertness, creativity, imagination, initiative, patience, problem-solving, and good judgment.
Qualifications/Education
High School Diploma.
Experience in a cooking environment.
Food Handlers or Serv Safe certification
Current driver's license.
Proper Vehicle Insurance Coverage.
Training/Experience
May require related experience.
On the job training for new activities.
Conditions of Conduct No gambling, drinking, or drugs, while in the facility or on the grounds will be tolerated, whether the employee is on duty or not. Violence, fighting, or abusive behavior or language toward any resident, other staff person, or visitor will not be tolerated. All employees are expected to come to work on time and call to inform of possible late arrival. A no show is not tolerated and the instance will be reviewed for subsequent disciplinary action. No employee shall report to work under the influence of alcoholic beverages, dangerous narcotics, or hallucinogenic drugs.
