Lead Library Specialist Job Description: The Lead Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the Specialists within their assigned county. This role includes supporting Specialists by providing assistance and resources for patrons as needed, as well as addressing logistical inquiries, such as questions about computer assistance and communication protocols. The Lead Specialist will also handle incoming calls, emails, and messages from Specialists. In addition, they will provide coverage at libraries when other specialists are out sick or on vacation. The Lead Specialist will play a crucial role in program outreach, representing the program at local events and maintaining relationships with community partners and organizations. They will be responsible for ensuring that timesheets from each Specialist are submitted on time and accurately completed, as well as verifying that all required data entries are correct. The Lead Specialist is expected to attend both in-person seminars and webinars to maintain an effective program and provide Specialists with up-to-date resources. They will also hold regular "walk-in assistance" hours at a library during their work week to assist patrons directly. The Lead Specialist will be part of the onboarding process for Specialists, including introducing new Specialists in person to their assigned libraries. As the program evolves, the duties of the Lead Specialist may change over time. The Lead Specialist must be flexible and willing to adapt to any updates in responsibilities. The Lead Specialist reports directly to the Program Coordinator. Please note this is a grant funded position. Responsibilities: · Supervise and support Specialists within the assigned county, providing guidance and assistance as needed for patron interactions. · Address logistical questions from Specialists regarding computer assistance and communication protocols. · Manage incoming communication from Specialists, including calls, emails, and messages. · Represent the program at local events, fostering and maintaining relationships with community partners and organizations. · Ensure Specialists' timesheets are submitted accurately and on time and verify that the data collected from Specialists is done correctly. · Participate in both in-person and virtual learning opportunities (seminars, webinars) to maintain program effectiveness and provide Specialists with relevant updates. · Provide direct assistance to library patrons during scheduled "walk-in assistance" hours. · Complete the onboarding process for new Specialists, including in-person introductions to assigned libraries. · Remain adaptable to evolving job responsibilities as the program grows. · Report directly to the Program Coordinator. Qualifications: Required · Bachelor’s or associate degree in social services or a related field. · Delaware Driver’s License and reliable transportation required. · Attendance at internal and external meetings is expected. · Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, One Drive, and Share Point. · Familiarity with social service and other relevant community agencies. · Experience with technology and software applications. · Strong communication skills with co-workers, library patrons, directors, and Specialists. · Skilled in addressing challenges with adaptability and resourcefulness. · Ability to travel to other libraries within the county as needed.
