Note: This role requires government project experience and an in-person interview. It is 50% onsite (Mon, Tues, Thurs) with remote flexibility up to 50% on Wed and Fri. Please apply only if you can commit to being onsite and attending an in-person interview. Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst to support the development and implementation of a new electronic infectious disease surveillance system for public health. This system will enhance disease reporting, monitoring, and management, forming the backbone of a data-driven public health warehouse. The analyst will work with IT, public health teams, and subject matter experts to drive system optimization and provide ongoing support for the existing SCION system until the new platform is fully operational.
Key Responsibilities:
System Support and Analysis: Learn and provide expert support for the current SCION electronic disease surveillance system (EDSS) and support the procurement and implementation of the new EDSS.
User Support and Training: Assist users with system issues, user account setup, training, and security compliance.
System Documentation: Develop and maintain user guides, technical documentation, and training materials.
Data Monitoring and Quality Control: Analyze system data quality, resolve discrepancies, and support ongoing data accuracy improvements.
Reporting and Technical Collaboration: Work with IT and Program Area Owners to generate reports, enhance user experience, and identify system improvements.
System Testing and Implementation: Participate in system testing, monitor system performance, and support production validation.
Core Skills and Qualifications:
Information Technology Knowledge: Familiarity with IT best practices, organization, and system operations.
System Expertise: Quick learner with the ability to become a subject matter expert on new systems.
Communication and Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills to provide responsive user support and detailed system documentation.
Microsoft O365 Proficiency: Skilled in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams, and Share Point.
Data Quality and Analysis: Experience in system analysis, monitoring, and reporting on performance and data accuracy.
Adaptability: Comfortable with shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
Ticketing Systems: Experience with ticketing software for incident tracking.
Preferred Skills:
Building relationships with technical and non-technical staff for data-centric projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and MS Office 365.
Knowledge of information security standards, such as NIST 800-53 and FISMA compliance.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
Additional Information:
This role will operate 40 hours per week, with flexibility for work outside of standard business hours if required. Candidates must be available to attend scheduled in-person meetings and interviews. Successful candidates will work in collaboration with IT, Program Area Owners, and the Project Management Office, prioritizing system support activities and ensuring all IT standards and security policies are met.
